After a two-year hiatus, the Liggiefees@Potch is back and ready to deliver some much-needed magic after a tough few months.
The annual lights festival, hosted by Abraham Kriel Children’s Home – Potchefstroom, will take place from Wednesday, 1 December to Thursday, 23 December 2021.
Known as’ Liggiefees Lite@Potch 2021’ this year, the event has changed slightly due to COVID-19. There will be no artists performing this year – a decision taken with the safety of all concerned in mind. It just made sense, given the unpredictable nature of the virus, to rather focus on the beautiful lights and open spaces where family and friends can enjoy a night out surrounded by fairy tale lights and music.
Plenty to eat and drink
Food at the Liggiefees has always been a crowd-pleaser and this year will be no different. Favourites like curry & rice, boerewors rolls and rib burgers, pancakes and a tuck shop will be available. There will also be coffee for all the caffeine lovers as well as the Pik’nWyn stall where a selection of wine and ciders can be enjoyed.
Bravehearts – pay attention
Youngsters can look forward to a toy and gadget store and amusement in the form of a play area for the smaller kids and activities for the more daring at heart. A mechanical bull, four-man bungee and a rocket parachute promises to keep teenagers entertained.
Last-minute Christmas shopping doesn’t need to be a headache this year. The Liggiemark will once again open its doors where an array of beautiful and unique handmade items will be sold. Once you’ve settled in and ordered your food, take a walk to the huge white marquee tent and shop until you drop.
Full-blown cinema experience
The info stall has also undergone a major facelift. Visitors to the stall can look forward to a full-blown cinema experience: red carpet, popcorn, lights, actions and a movie titled ‘Twinkle’ – a film based on a true story. Movie goers will be able to get a glimpse into the lives of our children and what Abraham Kriel is all about. This new feature is linked to the children’s home’s ‘Sponsor-a-Child’ project and it is hoped that this fun and interactive initiative will encourage people to get involved.
The dark days are over and the Liggiefees Lite@Potch 2021 is sure to offer everyone some light at the end of the tunnel as we say goodbye to 2021.
See you there!
Tickets cost R25 and can only be purchased at the gate. Gates open at 7pm every night and close at 10pm. Abraham Kriel’s Facebook page will remain updated throughout the event. Please keep an eye on it: Abraham Kriel Children’s Home – Potchefstroom.
Bring your family, friends, neighbours, colleagues, acquaintances (hey, and even strangers) – it really is the most wonderful time of the year!
