With lockdown still in full swing, the staff at Abraham Kriel Children’s Home in Potchefstroom decided to treat their kids to a fun day filled with traditional ‘boeresport’ games.
Childhood favourites like egg on a spoon, three-legged races, ‘kruiwa stoot’ and tug of war were just some of the games played on a sunny and pleasant afternoon.
Originally planned for Youth Day on Tuesday 16 June – which had to be postponed due to rain – children and staff members alike got down and dirty more than two weeks later attempting various games and activities. After a hard day’s work, the kids enjoyed a braai and plenty of nice things to eat and drink – the perfect solution to pass yet another day in lockdown.
